Many people have enjoyed their time at the Waggon & Horses.
"1st Class Country Pub & Hotel"
by Kevin H
We stayed at the Waggon & Horses the night before the wedding of our Niece. The reception was held at the Oak Barn Sandhole just across the road from the W&H. We were delayed on our journey but the W&H took the time to call us en route to get an ETA and kept the kitchen open to serve us supper. After the rigors of the M6 Carol (the landlady) and Kelly made us most welcome and revived us with a very friendly reception, a light supper and a couple of pints of excellent Robinson's 'Unicorn' -a life saver. Food - home made.locally sourced (Carol's partner makes the Sausages - excellent!) Beer - Well kept, good selection and reasonably priced. Accommodation - comfortable, bright and clean. Staff -Excellent with a high level of local knowledge. A center piece and community hub for the hamlet of Eaton. Lively country pursuits theme. I have no hesitation in recommending the W&H to all. I will return.
“Great place to stay , Great place to eat !”
“Absolutely no complaints.”
HOLD THE HORSES !
A decent pub with rooms on the outskirts of Congleton.
Carole the Landlady, all the staff, all the locals were all friendly and approachable. Decent beers in bar, really good evening meals, free parking, good breakfast - what else could you ask for. The rooms are not exactly the Ritz but there is everything you need. They are clean, good bathrooms and plenty of tea/coffee plus the complimentary biscuits to put in your bag and take home !!. Seen some reviews commenting on traffic noise - I am a light sleeper and my room was next to the road and it didn't upset me, hardly sleeping on the hard shoulder of the M6. Stayed for the night. Two course evening meal - very well cooked, 3 pints of guest ale, Bed and Good Breakfast with free parking £71.50 all in. This cannot be wrong.Carole please keep up the good work. Will defo stay again if I am in the area.
The Waggon & Horses
Fantastic- didn't expect what we entered into. Staff are very quick to attend! Had our rooms ready before the check in time! Clean and modern! Beds comfy! Can't fault. We stayed here as our friend was getting married, very close to Sandhole Barn.
Went for dinner this evening (Saturday)
Took my elderly mother for a treat.
I really can't fault the place! We walked in to a warm welcoming atmosphere, we were served promptly and politely by the bar staff and sat by the roaring log fire.
We each ordered different meals, all were available, all arrived together after no time at all. I had their own "Waggon sausages" the portion was generous and the sausages were delicious. My cheesecake for desert was sublime. All in our party said the same thing.
The food is excellent, great value for money, the staff couldn't be nicer, friendly and attentive and the landlady Carol was a darling.
We are planning another visit already! Thank you all for a fabulous evening
Stayed January 2016, traveled with family
Stayed overnight here on journey from Guildford to Preston. Lovely welcome at this warm and homely pub with separate accommodation. No added frills but everything you want/need, done really well and would be good for longer stays too. Stayed in the room allocated for dog owners, with my 2 border collies. Being a cold day it was lovely to walk into a toasty room which was clean and spacious and the 'hallway' was an added bonus for muddy boots etc. The ensuite shower room was large and immaculately clean. The shower was electric but good stream of water and hot. Lovely night's sleep on a comfortable mattress which didn't affect my bad back at all. The dogs were given the run of 3 empty fields and loved it, even at 5.00 in the morning! Had a delicious meal with relatives on Friday night next to the roaring log fire. The owner was friendly and made us feel very welcome and the menu was pub grub as it should be - hearty, tasty, ample portions and served with a smile. Separate car park for accommodation guests so the car was within easy reach. Am booking again!!
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Carol and Stuart for all your hard work in making Alans 70th birthday a hug success. We will have no hesitation in recommending your venue to friends in the future."

Our stay was cosy, comfortable and homely. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were attending a wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn across the road.A footpath opposite took us safely across the field to the venue in under 10 minutes

"All round excellent experience"
A friend and I were attending a wedding in the area (just across from the accommodation) and booked the accommodation knowing nothing about it. Instantly we were made to feel welcome by the friendly and super hospitable staff. The breakfast was an absolute treat and the landlord catered amazingly for me as a vegetarian. Couldn't recommend this place more - I definitely hope to visit again soon.

"Staying over for the Rewind Festival 2014"
We had a 3 night stay, arriving on a Friday. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and tidy with everything we could need for a long weekend. We ate in the restaurant the 1st night and the food was great. The breakfast in the morning is also very tasty and set us up for the day.
We've booked again for next year too.

"One night stay "
This family run pub was very inviting on a wet /cold night with a real log fire, a good pint of beer and a great hot meal. comfortable accommodation in a separate building which was quiet and had everything for a one night stop.

I stayed here with my daughter and my sister in July 2014. My daughter and I had a twin room and my sister had a double to herself. Her room was excellent, having been redecorated fairly recently. My room was also great with everything you would need for a short stay. The rooms were very clean and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Because the rooms are in a separate building, there is no need to worry about noise from the pub. Breakfast was lovely and they even make their own sausages! We didn't have an evening meal but our breakfast was well cooked and tasty. The pub also has a field at the back for caravans and tents, so if you're thinking of camping, this would be a great choice. I would definitely stay there again.

“Welcoming with good food in a lovely area.”
We took our caravan to stay at the 5 van site here. We were very re-assured by the fact the gate ot the site is locked and there is CCTV coverage around the pub. The resturant in the pub is well established and serves good food, well above the normal 'pub food' standard. It has agood atmosphere inside and outside there are extensive gardens with childrens play areas. The pub also hosts other activities - clay pidgeon shoots and is accredited by the Caravan Club.
